One of the latest additions to the country’s upscale food scene is Haneda, a beautiful restaurant serving Japanese food in the city of Fuzhou. The amazing restaurant interiors are the work of Kris Lin of the Hong Kong-based firm Kris Lin Interior Design. + f1 F& R$ [, `/ E* E0 r+ R! t Lin, who has won accolades and awards for his design work, was given complete free reign with the restaurant interiors. Given thus, he outfitted Haneda—which is located on a busy street of shops amidst a private residential area of the city—with a calm and serene palette along with Zen elements to draw in the locals that live in the nearby blue-chip neighborhood,8 V" ^0 r6 v) b) `3 `, V0 h8 N The stylish restaurant has a linear layout that spans 6,000 square feet as well as ceilings that run nearly 16-feet high. Structural columns have been installed throughout and the use of simple materials, such as steel, cement, laminated wood, and gray stone sourced from Jerusalem, enhance the beautiful restaurant’s overall Zen aesthetic and atmosphere. As Lin points out, the interiors for Haneda reference the harmony of Yin and Yang.# R5 V" f1 V+ h) ]5 O 4 m. f% _3 Y/ J. h7 ^ The cement walls in the tranquil restaurant are polished in certain parts and left raw in others and steel tubes in varying lengths and sizes have been welded together to form partitions to two VIP rooms. The steel contraptions were also used on the ceiling in combination with light fixtures, drawing diners’ eyes upward and giving the overall space a slightly industrial vibe. To bring a warm contrast into the amazing restaurant space, Lin paved the floor in the gray Jerusalem stone and also put up six dividers made of sleek dark walnut.2 C. o7 J3 P# l0 o# D! W( H& \ In the elegant entrance hall, an Asian-inspired touch includes water trickling through a rock, and steel candleholders throughout the chic restaurant continue the theme. The expansive main dining room is outfitted with high-back chairs that have been pulled up to shiny wood-top tables with geometric metal bases that reference the ceiling’s steel fixture and the fence-like partitions. There’s ample lighting, ranging from the ceiling lights overhead to the wall sconces, which all help illuminate the restaurant interiors and give the overall space an almost ethereal look. The glossy and luminous décor lend a luxurious touch to the restaurant, but in the end, it is Lin’s artful use of humble materials and his mastery of combining different textures that give Haneda its allure.# U$ U0 z$ v( c# n, v! w( T+ T |
